This Demonstration shows the logo of the International Mathematical Union (IMU). The three rings are a special case of the Borromean rings; as they are perpendicular to each other, they fit into an icosahedral frame, and each has an overall length-to-width ratio close to the golden ratio. Vary the controls to explore related arrangements.
