A canonical polygon has vertices on a unit square lattice; all sides are of length 1 or

. This Demonstration displays all canonical polygons with up to eight sides. The number of canonical polygons for 1, 2, 3, … sides is 0, 0, 1, 3, 3, 9, 13, 52, 140, 501, 1763, 6786, 25571, ….
