The Binarize function is used to convert an 8-bit or a 16-bit image into a single level "binary" image. An image can be converted to a binary image using single threshold, multiple thresholds, or by using various functions such as blackfraction, entropy, cluster, and so on. Binary images are used in various applications such as printers, fax machines, and bilevel computer displays.
