Distribution of the Last Digit of the Primes

This Demonstration shows the distribution of the last significant digit of the prime numbers expressed in any base. You will notice that bases that are themselves prime tend to produce much more even distributions than those that are not. The axis shows the density, that is, the fraction of prime numbers that end in that digit.


This Demonstration was created during the New Kind of Science Summer School 2008 in Burlington, Vermont.
