Hacker's Symbol: The Glider in the Game of Life

The Game of Life is a two-dimensional totalistic cellular automaton with Moore neighborhood, discovered by John H. Conway in 1970. The glider is a pattern from the Game of Life that moves in diagonally at each step. On a finite matrix the rules allow wrapping around.
The hacker community is considering adopting the glider as an emblem.
