Hinged Tripod for Holding a Vertical Pole
The legs of a tripod are hinged at the base of a cup. When you put a vertical pole into the cup, the legs rotate to move the arms inward and the cones at the ends of the arms grip the pole. This can be used as a Christmas tree stand.
