Integer Torus Maps Applied to Letterforms

The transformation {x,y}->Mod[{{a,b},{c,d}}.{x,y},n] is iteratively applied to the position of every point in a grid, thereby distorting the image of a letter.
When the matrix {{a,b},{c,d}} is invertible, the image always eventually returns to its original form after some number of steps.

With the matrix {{2,1},{1,1}} this is often called the Arnold cat map.
