In item response theory, an item characteristic curve describes the relationship between a latent ability and the performance on a test item. This Demonstration plots the item characteristic curves of two items. Change the item parameters to see the effect of different values.

In the three-parameter logistic model, the probability that a person with ability level gives a correct response to an item with discrimination parameter , difficulty parameter , and pseudo-guessing parameter is modelled as .
