Luna Landers on the Moon

A spherical container is divided into two hemispheres. The top hemisphere is further divided into four lobes, which have hinges that let the lobes turn to open the container. When turned all the way down, the lobes stabilize the container.
This scheme was used in the Russian space probe Luna-9. Later, for Luna-13, the top hemisphere was divided into eight petals, of which four could be opened.
