Union and intersection are basic operations on sets. In this Demonstration these operations can be applied to three sets (disks) or their complements. The sets can be modified in location and size.

Click the ⋃ or ⋂ symbols to switch between union and intersection. Click ∅, , or to choose the empty set, the set , or its complement (and similarly with and ). The chosen combination of sets results in the graphic on the bottom. You can move the sets by dragging their centers.
