In this Demonstration, data is linearly interpolated, rasterized and plotted. Adjust the resolution to see pixelation effects.

In addition to any type of data compression, whenever the data point density exceeds the pixel density, data points can be selectively deleted with no effect on the rendering. For further visual improvement the rendering can be antialiased.
