If a 55-gallon barrel lying on its side has 8 inches of grain at its deepest point, how much grain does it hold? For this and similar problems, the important keywords have non-intuitive names: sagitta, apothem, circular segment, and chord. This Demonstration illustrates each of these circle-related terms.
