This Demonstration shows a 3D layers evolution view of five-neighbor two-color outer totalistic 2D cellular automata (CA).

Each step of the CA is plotted as a distinct layer. Cubes are plotted at positions of 0 or 1 cells, depending on the setting. Each cube is colored individually according to how you set the color scheme, which is used as a gradient.

A "table" pattern can be seen with rules 593, 609 or 625 for example, setting the control "plot" to "0 cells".
