For the GAMS (gamma spectroscopy) experiment at the University of Utrecht, the number of scattered gamma photons is counted as a function of their scattering angle. The theory is discussed in an earlier Demonstration on the Klein–Nishina formula. We require a coordinate transformation to give the scattering angle as a function of scatterer position . The positions of the radioactive source and detector can be varied to simulate the experimental setup.
