This Demonstration computes the quantum-mechanical eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for a particle in a linear potential field (with ℏ=1, for simplicity). This corresponds to the classical case of a constant external force. The solutions involve Airy functions, which behave asymptotically like decreasing exponentials to the right of the turning point and sinusoidally to the left.
