Cellular automata (CA) are dynamic systems inspired by nature. Multi-agent systems occurring in nature are continuous, whereas CA are discrete. This Demonstration shows a gradual change of CA states. Two-dimensional CA have been chosen that resemble the behavior of bacteria. The "step" here is not exactly the "time-step" normally used in CA, as it also applies to the incremental changes in the transitions between the CA states.
