Outer totalistic 2D cellular automata rules update a site value according to the value of the site and the sum of the values of its surrounding sites. Here, the cells are placed on a hexagonal lattice, such that each site has six neighbors. With two possible colors for each cell (black and white) there are about sixteen thousand possible rules.
