It is possible to notice large seasonal differences by looking at a histogram of the colors in a picture of the same place throughout the year. These pictures are from Central Park in New York City.

Seasons are caused by the slight inclination of the Earth's axis in its orbit around the Sun.

The seasons in the Southern and Northern Hemispheres are opposite: when it is winter in the USA and Europe, it is summer in Brazil and Australia.
