This Demonstration traces the path of the Kon-Tiki expedition, which began April 28, 1947 in the Peruvian port Callao. Thor Heyerdahl (1914–2002) and five friends sailed the raft Kon-Tiki for 101 days over 6900 km across the Pacific Ocean before smashing into a reef at Raroia in the Tuamotu Islands on August 7, 1947.
