The hexagons are colored according to evolutions of automata on an infinite grid. The outer-totalistic rule of 2D automata distinguishes local density and whether the center of the neighborhood is 0 or 1. Render a step with its previous and next step or select among the other time views. Change the relative distance between the centers of hexagons to see overlaps or modify the distance between the hexagons.
