This Demonstration uses stock prices taken from FinancialData from the past year, drops seven weeks, then uses TimeSeriesForecast and TimeSeriesModelFit to forecast stock prices for the dropped weeks. Actual stock prices are included for comparison.
While it is impossible to predict the future price of any given stock, Mathematica can use a company's historical stock performance to generate a trend line that attempts to predict future stock performance. However, the Demonstration does not take into account current events, news releases, and earnings reports that may affect the performance of a stock.
Disclaimer: Investors should not consider the Demonstration when making investment decisions. All investors are advised to conduct their own independent research into individual stocks before making a purchase decision. In addition, investors are advised that past stock performance is no guarantee of future price appreciation.
