This Demonstration shows Pascal's barrel experiment of 1646. Pascal poured more water into a closed wooden barrel already full of water, down a narrow 10-meter-long pipe. Due to the increase in hydrostatic pressure and Pascal's principle, the barrel can leak and even burst.
