Six triangles of a regular hexagon are jointed at their vertices to form an expandable unit structure. Such units can be joined in a lattice to show the possible design of an expanding structure, or a variable wallpaper pattern. Further patterns can be explored if the triangles are replaced with another figure, for instance with the variable figure that can be created by opening parts of each triangle.
