Motion of a System Consisting of a Rolling Cart, Pendulum, and Spring
A cart with variable mass rolls on a smooth surface. Attached to the cart is a pendulum with negligible mass. A ball of variable mass is attached to a spring with variable unstretched length and stiffness. The ball and spring are placed inside the pendulum. Set the variables and watch the motion!
