The easiest way to connect a photoresistor to a microcontroller is to connect a voltage divider of constant resistance and a photoresistor. You can measure the resistance of the photoresistor under the observed lighting conditions to get minimum and maximum resistance values. Then you can use this Demonstration to see what constant resistance you need to use in the voltage divider to get discrete low and high values on the microcontroller pin.
