In an optical system like a camera or telescope, lens flares are the result of light scattering and reflecting among the different lens elements. In computer graphics, they are often added to an image composition to add a sense of realism. The visualization shown here does not correspond to any particular optical system, but is intended for visual effect only. Drag the light source to see how the angle affects the appearance of the flare.
