This Demonstration traces Thor Heyerdahl's Ra expeditions. In 1969 and 1970, Heyerdahl built two boats from papyrus and attempted to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Morocco. Ra I started 25 May 1969 at Safi and it broke apart on 18 July 1969, after sailing more than 4000 miles. Ra II started on 17 May 1970 and reached Barbados on 12 July 1970.
