Spirals of Kite-Shaped Blocks

Kite-shaped blocks are arranged in spirals that can slide along their side surfaces, thus reducing the central space. Such an operation could be exploited in a chuck to fix a central shaft. When the kites are extended vertically, the assembly can be interpreted as a rigid tower.
