The Demonstration displays the trajectories of two hydrodynamically interacting spheres exhibiting oscillatory shear flow. Newtonian fluid behavior at low Reynolds numbers is assumed.[more]
The data for the motions of the spheres, beginning with a particular symmetric geometric arrangement, comes from Stokesian dynamics, a three-dimensional numerical simulation method developed in the mid-1980s by Bossis and Brady.[less]
